HANDBOOK ON LINK STUDENT INTERNSHIP

General provisions

Article 1

This handbook defines the conditions of and the manner of carrying out student internship.

Internship goals

Article 2

The internship should facilitate students’ transition from academia to their future professional career. The main goal of student internship is to familiarise students with the practical aspects of their chosen profession through practical work. Students thus get an opportunity to apply the theoretical knowledge and skills they have acquired in separate disciplines in practice, whereby they should gain insight into the technical, organisational, economic and social circumstances and developments, and their interrelations in companies, or institutions. The internship aims to improve the student’s ability to successfully apply scientific and professional knowledge and methods in given practical situations, as well as to intensify the relationship between theory and practice. The expected feedback effect of the student’s contact with professional practice should serve as an incentive to master all aspects of one’s profession, and motivation to do similar jobs after graduation.

Available areas for internship

Article 3

The internship shall be organised in the areas specified in the school’s open call.

Article 4

The Director shall appoint a person in charge of students (Hereinafter: internship mentor) among the faculty. One internship mentor can accept a maximum of 10 students – mentees.

Article 5

Student internship shall be managed by an internship mentor, who shall supervise how it is carried out on a daily basis, and submit reports on the course of student internship at the request of the Director, or the school. The internship mentor is obligated to review and sign correctly written internship journals.

Article 6

Students apply at the relevant institution that assigns internships (hereinafter: school). Students apply for the internship programme by sending a CV with their academic achievement, and a motivational letter where they shall state the desired area available for internship according to the school’s call for internship, within the deadline specified by the school. After the expiration of the deadline, the Director shall interview the candidates and make a final decision on who shall get an internship. The school reserves the right to assign an internship in a field other than the one stated in the student’s motivational letter, about which they shall inform the student and the legal representative in a timely manner. The school that assigns internships is obligated to submit a list of students and the available internship areas where the programme will be carried out to LINK no later than two (2) weeks before the start of the internship each year.
