Pursuant to Article 34 of the Statute of the International School, at the meeting held on the 09.07.2021., the Board of International School adopted the following:

Admission Policy

Basic Provisions

Article 1

International School’s primary motivation and mission is to help its students become citizens of the world whose knowledge, ideas and actions will make them successful people and role models for future generations.

Having a vision that our school is a place where new ideas are born, talents nourished and knowledge improved, we welcome all applicants who are creative, ambitious, hard-working, reflective and open-minded.

Admission process

Article 2

Admission in the International School is a two-step process:

  1. After meeting with parents/ legal guardians regarding mutual educational expectations, an interview with the school’s representative is scheduled, in order to assess the student’s learner profile and English language proficiency;
  2. After a signed Agreement between the International School and the student’s parents/ legal guardians, the student and his/her parents/legal guardians fill in the Admission Form.

A student will be admitted provided that:

  1. School’s professional staff approves student’s enrollment after an interview;
    All appropriate fees are paid in full;
  2. English Language proficiency is assessed as satisfactory;
  3. Admission form is completed.

Entry Requirements

Article 3

International School welcomes all students regardless of their nationality, religion, ethnicity, gender, origin, social status or personal beliefs. We believe that quality education should be available to all students who want to become citizens of the world whose knowledge, ideas and actions will make them successful people and role models for future generations.

When assessing a student’s learner profile, International School’s professional staff will analyse:

  • Student’s learning process;
  • Cognitive abilities;
  • Social and emotional intelligence;
  • Collaborative skills;
  • Other personal abilities.

This is done in order to help students achieve the best results, to enhance their skills and to implement teaching methodology according to their learning profile.

When assessing a student’s English language proficiency, International School’s professional staff will evaluate whether the student’s language proficiency meets the language proficiency requirement for attending the lessons in the International School.

Language Requirements

Article 4

The official language of instruction in the International School is English Language.

Students seeking admission to the School, whose first language is not English, are required to provide an English language certificate at the level B1 or the equivalent.

Students enrolling in the School with lower competencies than on level B1 can still attend the School’s programme. In this situation, the School will provide additional help to the students until the minimum standard is achieved.

Entry requirements for the Diploma Programme

Article 5

Diploma Programme is an International Baccalaureate programme for students in Year 12 and Year 13.

Internal students enrolling in the Diploma Programme are required to pass at least 5 (five) IGCSE Cambridge International subject exams at the end of their Year 11. Students who haven’t passed any IGCSE exam or have passed less than 5 exams are granted enrollment in the Diploma Programme with the written statement signed by their parents/legal guardians, as described in the Parent-School Agreement.

External students enrolling in the Diploma Programme can be admitted if they:

  • Submit proof of their previous education leading them to Year 12;
  • School’s professional staff approves student’s enrollment after an interview;
  • All appropriate fees are paid in full;
  • English Language proficiency is assessed as satisfactory;
  • Admission form is completed.

Students seeking admission to the Diploma Programme, whose first language is not English, are required to provide an English language certificate at the level B2 or the equivalent.

Students enrolling in the Diploma Programme with lower competencies than on level B2 can still attend the School’s programme. In this situation, the School will provide additional help to the students until the minimum standard is achieved.

In compliance with the School’s Inclusion Policy, during an Admission Process, student applicants will be interviewed and their learner profile and learning abilities will be tested.

The School Counsellor and the school’s professional staff will be asked to assess whether there are any barriers to learning, which include, but are not limited to:

  • Learning disabilities such as discalculia, dyslexia, dysgraphia;
  • Behavioral, social and emotional problems problems such as ADHD, dyspraxia or depression;
  • Medical conditions such as Autistic Disorder or Asperger’s syndrome;
  • Language barriers.

If the School Counsellor or teachers suspect of any of the barriers to learning, in agreement with the parents, the student will take a specific test that might assess the level of the learning barrier. This test will also allow the teachers to create individual educational plans for students in collaboration with the School Counsellor.

The International School will, according to the student’s needs, allow some access arrangements without the approval of the International Baccalaureate Organisation. If a barrier to learning is identified as a learning disability caused by psycho-emotional or medical problems, the Article 7 of the Inclusion Policy will apply.

Scholarships

Article 6

International School offers a variety of ways for the students to apply and exercise the right to the tuition fee reduction.

The Regulations regarding the manner and procedure for applying and exercising the students’ right to a tuition fee reduction are available on the School’s official website.

Confidentiality

Article 7

All the information acquired during an admission process is subject to confidentiality and is being safely stored, available only to the professionals in charge of the admission process.

Students’ and parents’/legal guardians’ personal or sensitive information are kept safe and secure and are subject to confidentiality, available only to the school administration.

Final Provisions

Article 8

The Admission Policy is developed by the Admission Policy Committee:

  • Ljubica Krstić – Head of Social Sciences and Humanities Department;
  • Aleksandar Petrović – School Counsellor;
  • Zorana Živanović – Programme Coordinator.

The Admission Policy will come into force on the eighth day following their posting on the School’s notice board.

The teaching staff, the International School’s Coordinators, the School Principal and the Board will collaboratively review this Policy in August 2022, on which they will report to parents and students through an official email in September of the same year.
