School stories

The International School welcomed all interested students and their parents who wanted to experience what it feels like to be a student at the most modern Cambridge school in the region for a day. Proof that the International School is a school your child would gladly attend is the fact that the children didn’t want to leave!

Open Day held at the International School

While the kids were enjoying the role of international students, their parents got a sense of what it would be like if their children attended an international school that supports and implements the highest quality standards when it comes to modern education. Together they had a peek into the unique Intelligent Classrooms equipped with modern laptops, iPads, tablets, VR headsets, interactive electronic whiteboards that enable dynamic multimedia lessons, the recreation space and other amenities provided by the International School.

A truly different approach to education

In the pleasant atmosphere of the school canteen, the Principal welcomed the students and parents, and introduced them to the International School curriculum, modern, innovative and interactive teaching technology, contemporary teaching methods, and professional and experienced teachers who are also mentors.

In physics and chemistry lessons, the students did interesting experiments which changed their perspective of these subjects; they realised that they were truly interesting when presented in an innovative and creative manner.

In the physics lesson, they learnt about light dispersion in our atmosphere that causes colourful sunsets. They found out that this dispersion is the reason why we see the sky as blue and the Sun as yellow in daytime, even though the light coming from the Sun is considered to be white.

The chemistry lesson was equally as interesting, given that during an interactive demonstration the students experienced what it’s like to be a lab scientist; they learnt about precautionary measures, and the teacher explained what knowledge and skills they need in order to make chemical reactions.

Another lesson which delighted them was the history lesson in which the teacher showed how students learn history at the International School. Through maps, presentations, videos and modern music, the teacher presented Cuba, and ended the lesson in a creative and innovative way, using the Kahoot! quiz app to test the students’ history skills.

A truly different educational experience

At the same time, the parents had first hand experience of the Distance Learning Platform, which allows monitoring the progress of the students at school at any time – from class attendance, grades, homework statistics, borrowed library books, to online attendance of lessons.

At the end of this unforgettable day, we summed up our impressions together, encouraging the parents to share their questions and observations with us. A day spent as International School students convinced our guests that we offer top-quality education. Proof of this is the fact that the children didn’t want to leave, prompting the organisers to extend the event.
