The beginning of November brought new memories to students from Year 11, Year 12 and Year 13. During a five-day study trip, students, along with their class teachers, visited Thessaloniki, where they had the opportunity to learn about different cultures, experience the power of ancient Greece and enjoy beautiful landscapes.

Students visited numerous cultural monuments and museums, as well as cafes and restaurants, tried different food and had long walks.

Zeitenlik – a place of remembrance connecting students with a part of their national history

The visit to the Serbian Military Cemetery at Zeitenlik particularly impressed the students. During the visit, they saw numerous monuments and tombstones honouring Serbian soldiers who lost their lives in World War I. Additionally, they familiarised themselves with the historical context of World War I and Serbia’s role in it.

The cemetery is meticulously adorned and maintained with special care, imparting a lesson about respecting history and preserving the memory of those who laid down their lives for their country. Zeitenlik is not just a place of remembrance but also an educational site that allows students to connect with a part of their national history in a very personal and poignant manner.

Embracing different cultures and strengthening knowledge of the world around us

Study trips help students gain real-world experience that cannot be taught in the classroom, allowing them to embrace different cultures and enhance their knowledge of the world around them. Students used this trip to strengthen their friendships as well.
