A practical learning experience connecting business, production and sustainability

Students of Business class took part in a guided visit to the Umka Cardboard Factory, where they had the opportunity to explore how recycled materials are transformed into new products and learn more about sustainable production processes.

Exploring the Journey of Recycled Paper

During the visit, students discovered the different stages of cardboard production, from processing recycled paper to creating packaging materials used in everyday life. They learned how paper waste that would otherwise become a burden on the environment can be reused and transformed into packaging for products we use every day, including brands such as Jaffa.

Understanding Sustainable Business Practices

The visit also focused on the importance of responsible waste management and the role companies play in protecting natural resources. Students learned how Umka manages waste and implements processes designed to reduce environmental impact, including preventing pollution of the Sava River.

Through this experience, students gained valuable insight into the connection between business operations, environmental responsibility and sustainable development, seeing firsthand how industry can contribute to a more responsible future.
