School stories

During the past weekend, Information Technology High School – ITHS hosted over 100 high school students from across Serbia and the region as the host of the LEA Model United Nations conference.

The LEAMUN conference represents a simulation of United Nations sessions for students taking on the roles of delegates from various countries worldwide to address pressing global issues from the perspective of the countries they represent. Participants represented different countries in committees such as the Security Council, Human Rights Council, General Assembly, Historical Committee, and the newly established UN Committee on Women’s Rights. By representing different nations on matters of global significance, the delegates truly impressed us with their knowledge of history, geography, economics, politics, and law.

The delegates began with their first sessions on Friday, 15 September, following the opening ceremony that marked the commencement of MUN, that is, a warm welcome from LINK edu Alliance students who organised this event.

The Secretary-General of LEAMUN was Damjan Vezenkoski, a student from International School, while Milica Banić, also a student from the same school, served as the Deputy Secretary-General. Lara Veselinović and Klara Petrović, students from Savremena Gimnazija, led the Foreign Affairs sector, while Ivona Nikolić, a student from International School, was responsible for volunteer coordination.

Once again this year, the conference was sponsored by Coca-Cola, providing participants with “Rosa” water and “Next” juices to stay refreshed.

International School, Savremena Gimnazija and Information Technology High School demonstrated to their students, who played the roles of delegates and committee chairs, that LINK edu Alliance nurtures talent and educates young leaders of the future.

During the largest conference of its kind in Serbia, which lasted for three days, we explored a multitude of interesting and current topics, witnessing how today’s high school students completely transcend boundaries, surpassing their skills, competencies, and knowledge. We can’t wait to see what the students will prepare for us next year!
