School stories

This year, International School continued its tradition of visiting the Belgrade Book Fair, one of the city’s most inspiring cultural events dedicated to celebrating literature and learning. Although only one student expressed interest in attending, the enthusiasm of Year 7 student Luka Paunović made the visit truly special. Luka was accompanied by his class teacher Maja Milosavljević and Business Teacher Marija Milić, who were delighted to support his passion for books.

During their visit, the group stopped by the stand of the publishing house Provens, where they had the opportunity to attend a children’s workshop titled “Magical Books with Codes.” Led by author Dr. Dragana Malešević, the workshop introduced creative uses of QR codes in education. By scanning the codes printed in the books, readers can access additional video materials that enrich the content in a digital format, showing how traditional reading can be enhanced through modern technology.

At International School, we believe that reading remains one of the most valuable habits a student can develop. In today’s increasingly digital world, books continue to offer something truly irreplaceable – the chance to slow down, explore new ideas, expand vocabulary, strengthen critical thinking, and spark imagination. Even when supported by technology, the foundation of learning still lies in high-quality reading.

We are proud of Luka for showing initiative and representing our school at this year’s fair, and we hope that next year more students will join us in exploring this wonderful celebration of books.
