International School recently hosted a special Francophone event, organized by French language teacher Nemanja Peić, in collaboration with Savremena gimnazija. The event brought together students in a celebration of the French language, history, and rich cultural heritage.
A Celebration of Language, Literature and Music
Students from Savremena gimnazija delivered engaging and well-prepared presentations on various aspects of French history and culture. Their performances reflected not only strong preparation, but also genuine enthusiasm and curiosity.
A particular highlight of the event was the literary segment. Students explored and interpreted selected excerpts from renowned works, including Nadja by André Breton, The Stranger by Albert Camus, and the poem L’Albatros by Charles Baudelaire. Through their readings, they demonstrated impressive linguistic skills as well as thoughtful interpretation.
The audience also enjoyed a musical performance by special guest Marija Miletić, who performed the iconic song “Non, je ne regrette rien” by Édith Piaf, as well as the famous aria “L’Amour est un oiseau rebelle” from the opera Carmen.
The event was marked by a refined and inspiring atmosphere, with students confidently showcasing their knowledge and appreciation of Francophone culture.
Overall, the Francophone celebration was a great success, highlighting students’ dedication, creativity, and growing command of the French language, while fostering a deeper understanding of France’s cultural and historical legacy.
