School stories

The youngest students at International School took part in an engaging robotics lesson that combined technology, creativity and hands-on learning. Using 3D pens, students explored new ways of transforming their ideas into creative designs while developing essential skills through practical activities.

Discovering Technology Through Hands-On Learning

During the lesson, students had the opportunity to work with 3D pens, an innovative tool that allows them to create shapes and designs using heated plastic filament.
Working with drawings as a starting point, students experimented with different shapes, colours and patterns, discovering how technology can be used as a tool for creative expression.

The activity encouraged young learners to explore new possibilities, practise precision and develop an understanding of how digital-age tools can support practical and artistic projects.

Developing Creativity, Concentration and Fine Motor Skills

In addition to introducing students to new technology, the lesson supported the development of several important skills.
Using 3D pens required concentration, hand-eye coordination and careful control of movements, helping students strengthen their fine motor skills. The creative process also encouraged patience, independent thinking and problem-solving as students worked on transforming their drawings into physical designs.

Through experimentation and practical engagement, students gained confidence in using unfamiliar tools and discovered the importance of creativity in technological learning.

Building Foundations for Future Learning

Introducing technology through age-appropriate activities helps young learners develop curiosity and a positive attitude towards exploring new concepts.

At International School, practical learning experiences encourage students to connect creativity with technological understanding from an early age. Activities such as this robotics lesson support the development of independence, logical thinking and imagination, providing a valuable foundation for future learning in science, technology and design.
