Year 8 students recently explored the fundamentals of Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) in an engaging interdisciplinary lesson led by Business teacher Mila Janković and Digital Literacy teacher Marko Nikolić. The session combined knowledge from both subjects, helping students understand how digital visibility and business strategy are closely connected in today’s online world.
Understanding How Search Works
During the lesson, students revisited key SEO concepts and discussed why search engine optimisation is such an essential element of the modern digital landscape. Through guided discussion, they explored the difference between on-page and off-page SEO, learning how various strategies influence a website’s ranking and visibility in search engine results.
From Theory to Practice
To conclude the session, students applied their newly acquired knowledge by working on the optimisation of websites related to their own business ideas. This hands-on activity allowed them to put theory into practice while strengthening their understanding of how SEO strategies can support real entrepreneurial projects.
Connecting Knowledge Across Subjects
Lessons like this demonstrate how different academic disciplines complement one another. By linking business thinking with digital literacy, students gain practical skills that are increasingly important in today’s digital environment while also developing critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving abilities.
