Year 8-2 and Year 9 students recently took part in an exciting interdisciplinary lesson that combined Science and Physical Education, led by teachers Maja Milosavljević and Aleksandar Ernjaković. The aim of the activity was to help students review their unit on Space in a dynamic, engaging, and memorable way.
Instead of a traditional revision class, students used the well-known game Twister to test their knowledge. With each move they made on the Twister mat, students were required to answer a question related to Space – challenging both their understanding of scientific concepts and their physical coordination at the same time.
This unusual approach to reviewing material proved to be both fun and effective. By combining movement with academic recall, students were more focused, motivated, and actively involved in the learning process. Activities like this support better memory retention, boost student engagement, and encourage teamwork, quick thinking, and problem-solving.
The interdisciplinary lesson demonstrated how creative teaching methods can transform learning into an enjoyable experience, showing students that science can be explored not only in the classroom but also through movement, play, and collaboration.
