In a recent interdisciplinary lesson, Global Perspectives teacher, Mr Miloš Slavković, and English teacher, Ms Ljubica Pavasović, worked together to support Year 10 students in developing stronger academic writing skills for their upcoming IGCSE exams.
The focus of the lesson was on structuring extended responses, specifically targeting Question 4 of the Global Perspectives exam, which requires students to make and justify a recommendation based on evidence and multiple viewpoints.
Ms Ljubica delivered a presentation on constructing clear topic sentences, thesis statements, and coherent argument structure – key elements for effective academic writing. Mr Miloš then guided students through a worked example related to crime reduction policies, helping them analyze sources, weigh arguments, and present a balanced, well-supported recommendation.
This collaboration helped students see how strong writing skills are essential for building critical thinking and improving exam performance across different subjects.
