Our Year 7 and Year 8 students spent a memorable day on the Danube, enjoying a cruise that gave them the opportunity to discover Belgrade from an entirely different perspective while also spending quality time together outside the usual school environment.

The activity was part of our “Classroom Without Walls” concept, which encourages students to gain new knowledge and experiences beyond the traditional classroom. A change of setting, direct contact with the city and its natural surroundings, and shared experiences all help make learning more engaging, dynamic and connected to the real world.
The cruise was therefore much more than a school trip – it was a day filled with discovery, friendship and meaningful experiences that our students will remember for years to come.
A Different View of the City
Seen from the river, Belgrade revealed a completely different side of itself. As they cruised along the Danube, students enjoyed panoramic views of the city, recognised familiar landmarks and observed places they see every day from an entirely new angle.
The view from the water gave them the opportunity to better understand the relationship between the city and its rivers, appreciate Belgrade’s architecture and distinctive skyline, and simply enjoy the unique atmosphere created where urban life meets nature.
The cruise also encouraged students to explore their surroundings in a more immediate and engaging way, connecting what they already know with what they could see and experience first-hand. Experiences such as these show how learning can become even more meaningful when students are able to connect knowledge with the world around them.
Time to Connect and Spend Time Together
Alongside sightseeing and discovering the city, the day was also about sharing experiences and enjoying time together. Students talked, laughed, exchanged impressions and enjoyed one another’s company in a relaxed setting, strengthening friendships and creating new memories along the way.
Activities beyond the school grounds give students the opportunity to connect with one another in ways that are different from the everyday classroom experience. Shared moments, new experiences and time spent with peers help foster a sense of belonging, strengthen team spirit and contribute to a positive and supportive school community.
At International School, we believe that meaningful learning does not have to be limited by the walls of a classroom. Through our “Classroom Without Walls” approach, we give students opportunities to explore, ask questions, engage with their surroundings and grow through first-hand experiences and shared discoveries.
With beautiful views of Belgrade, great company and plenty of positive energy, the Danube cruise was another wonderful example of how learning beyond the classroom can be inspiring, valuable and truly memorable.
