School stories

As part of a philanthropic project that our students designed themselves, they invited seniors from the Fenix retirement home on Voždovac to be their guests at Savremena International School. By spending time with them, the students introduced their guests to new technologies and showed them how to use modern gadgets which will make everyday communication much easier and more convenient.

Uncovering the charms of technology

By talking to good-spirited grannies and grandpa’s, Savremena’s students showed their guests how to use various devices like iPads and Chromebooks and apps like Viber, Facebook and WhatsApp with which they can contact their friends and family for free.

Students also taught seniors how to buy things, listen to music, read newspapers and look up interesting things online, opening them up to a rich world of fun activities with which they can fill up their free time.

A great exchange across generations

To crown it all, our students and their senior guests had fun with Kahoot, upon which they presented the seniors with a small token by which to remember them and this unique experience. As the elderly would say “time flies when you’re having fun”, but the new friends they made at Savremena International School will remain forever.

Savremena’s socially responsible students

By working with the elderly, students learned a valuable lesson about respecting and helping older generations and they excelled at transferring knowledge onto those outside of their age-group.

We are proud that the ideas of our students and their enthusiasm are coming true. This visit will be remembered as a great experience for all those involved and we are looking forward to the new projects our students will undertake.
