School stories

International School Savremena will be the only private school among the 180 selected schools in Serbia taking part in the PISA survey to be held in April and May.

During the month-and-a-half-long testing, Savremena’s students will compete against their peers in an attempt to improve the performance of Serbia, which hasn’t participated in the study since 2006.

The best validation of knowledge for Savremena’s students

The PISA survey is the leading instrument for the evaluation of the quality, fairness and efficiency of education systems. The fact that more than 80 countries, almost more than 80% of the global economy, take part in the study, makes it the best indicator of a country’s education system. Following last year’s mock testing, the main PISA study will start in April, with participation from Savremena’s students.

Year 10 students will have the chance to display their skills in reading, maths and science, but also financial literacy and global competencies, as this year Serbia participates in these two areas for the first time.

PISA surveys are global triennial studies done electronically, and this year the number of secondary students participating in the PISA survey has reached as many as 8000.

International survey as a benchmark for success

PISA results will show how education in Serbia ranks in terms of students’ functional knowledge, while providing guidelines for the areas that need improvement so as to reach the desired standards in the education system. They will also help in the ranking of our students among students from 200 countries participating in the survey.

As of this year, Savremena’s students and their parents can visit the website of the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development to learn about the tasks designed by the task groups within the National Council for Monitoring the International PISA Project, aimed at preparing the students for the upcoming testing.

International School Savremena – part of the global education system

The study that focuses on testing students in tasks related to real life situations that are considered to be relevant for the efficient participation in the world of adults, as well as long-term learning, matches Savremena’s vision aimed at preparing the students for adulthood as best as possible.

Participation in this survey is a great privilege for International School Savremena, as it will enable it to have reliable and applicable data that complies with the highest research and methodology standards.

In addition to the pleasure of taking part in such a large international research, International School Savremena holds in high regard the fact that it will enhance its activities through cooperation with the National PISA Centre, while Savremena’s students will have the opportunity to display their knowledge through practical examples and contribute to Serbia’s ranking by achieving the best possible results.
