School stories

On Friday, 28 April, a presentation of the Union of Secondary School Students of Serbia (UNSS) was held in the classrooms of Savremena International School, so as to introduce Savremena’s students to the union’s ideas, the possibilities the students have and enable them to discover new ways to exercise their rights.

Creating a school to the students’ liking

The Union of Secondary School Students of Serbia was formed in 2003 with the aim of creating an organisation which would represent and act on behalf of secondary school students on the national and European level. Several students from Belgrade managed to carry out their vision to unite secondary school students in fighting for their rights.

The idea behind UNSS is to give secondary school students the chance to become informed, educated and well-established, developing themselves in various fields by collaborating with their peers and participating in different projects.

According to the founders, the priority of the Union of Secondary School Students of Serbia is developing and strengthening the network of students’ parliaments in Serbia, which is why it is important to get all students involved.

Savremena’s students are familiar with the idea of creating a school where the students are equal participants, rather than mere recipients of knowledge, as the same concept is cherished at their school.

Useful lectures for Savremena’s students

Although Savremena’s students contribute to the improvement of lesson quality on a daily basis, they are enabled to hear and see a lot more than what constitutes the learning process. Lectures such as this one open new doors and introduce the students to a rich world of opportunities made possible by being well-informed.
