Combining music and acting on the stage of Dom Omladine

Predstava Dom omladine SGThe new original play Savremena’s students created called “All we need is love” demonstrates what happens when two different musical styles meet in the form of a rock band on the one hand and a DJ and an MC on the other. The inspiration behind the play was the clash of musical tastes at clubs, while Savremena’s charming students displayed their excellent acting and musical skills as they gave a captivating performance.

Savremena’s team opened the performance with a cover of Bon Jovi’s “It’s my life”, announcing an excellent repertoire. The great atmosphere was further complemented with songs by EKV, Toni Cetinski and finally Bajaga with the play’s title song “Samo nam je ljubav potrebna” (All we need is love). For their one-hour performance on stage, which was by no means a small task, our students were awarded with a standing ovation to mark the end of their first year at Savremena International School.

Students organise a charity event for the children at the Shelter

SG Dom OmladineMuch like at their performance at the end of the first term, with the help of their teachers, Savremena’s students organised a charity campaign where they sold the “Savremenčići” soaps and the “Scary and Other Stories” storybook which they wrote and illustrated themselves.

All the proceeds are intended for the children at the Shelter as part of the “Little Gift for Great Joy” campaign that was started in May, during which students collected clothing, books, toys and sweets for the children. Everything they gathered as well as the funds raised from selling the soaps and storybook they personally delivered to the Shelter the following day.

Summing up impressions and awarding scholarships

Direktorka Savremene gimnazjijeAt the end-of-year performance, the Principal of Savremena International School Svetlana Belić Malinić addressed the students, parents and teachers. She shared her great impressions and memories on the past year and emphasised how much everyone should be proud of what they achieved in their first year at Savremena.

Visitors were also able to watch a video on the many achievements of Savremena’s students. In order to further encourage students to take their knowledge and skills to the next step, our best current and future students were awarded with scholarships for Savremena International School.

A great tradition started by students

The end-of-year performance has become a wonderful tradition started and upheld by Savremena’s students where they can show their skills and creativity to entertain their guests and help those in need.

With the amount of enthusiasm, energy and good will invested into this project, both on the part of students and teachers, it is no wonder that everyone was happy and cheerful after the performance.
